PROBLEM
I recently created an atmail cloud account and I want to configure a CNAME record for my account users to access their mail through.
ENVIRONMENT
- atmail cloud
CAUSE
CNAME Record is not configured to work with atmail cloud.
RESOLUTION
What are CNAME Records?
A Canonical Name (CNAME) record is a type of resource record in the Domain Name System that maps one domain name to another. CNAME is used for resolving domain to other another domain - as an alias. CNAME records are often used to point to a host or to point the "mail" version of the domain to the naked domain. For example, mail.domain.com.
Where do I go to make the changes required?
The CNAME records can be configured via the domain service provider where the domain was originally purchase/registered. Common DNS providers are Go Daddy, CrazyDomains, NetRegistry, Enom and Name.com.
Each provider will have their own customer login/access pages which you will need to have access to as this will lead to DNS management/configuration settings. If you are unsure who your DNS provider is, visit: https://www.whoishostingthis.com/ and enter your domain detail to determine the provider.
Below are links to the support guides offered common DNS providers, stepping through how to configure CNAME records within their domain management platforms:
Go Daddy: https://au.godaddy.com/help/add-a-cname-record-19236
Net Registry: https://support.netregistry.com.au/s/article/Creating-CNAME-Zone-records
Name.com: http://support.name.com/hc/en-us/articles/205188498-MX-Records
What do my CNAME records need to be set to?
