PROBLEM

How can I increase the permissions of one of my admin users?

CAUSE

The permission model works on a hierarchy of access. If you create data, your sub-administrators will not have access to this data. To resolve this a new feature has been added so that users can be assigned "elevated data access" - this means that if enabled, the newly created user will have access the same data as their creator.

If the new users creator also has elevated data access then they will still inherit the same data rights. The permissions will extend until the "top" of the "ladder" is hit (where the user specified has elevateDataAccess = 0). So a user way down in the creation hierarchy can inherit access to data "owned" by a user as many levels up the tree as the elevation goes.

RESOLUTION

This feature can be managed using the following steps.

  1. Log into your webadmin.
    1. US servers: https://us.atmailcloud.com/admin/
    2. EU Servers: https://eu.atmailcloud.com/admin/
  2. Go to webadmin > Security > List Users or Add Users
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you can find the below settings

  4. You can then toggle the Elevate data access parameter for enable/disable this feature for the new or selected user.
