PROBLEM

I want my users to be able to configure their atmail accounts via IMAP with their Samsung Galaxy s5.

ENVIRONMENT

  • On-Premise Server + WebMail Installations: Version 6.0 > Current Version
  • Webmail Only Installations: Version 6.0 > Current Version

CAUSE

Requirement for Samsung Galaxy s5 IMAP configuration.

RESOLUTION

Required details

To connect your atmail account to your Samsung Galaxy s5 via IMAP you will need the following:

  • Email Address
  • Email Password
  • WebMail login page URL.

Note: The WebMail login page is required for outgoing and incoming settings of your account in the Samsung Galaxy s5 mail client. If your WebMail login page is http://domain.com/mail/ then your outgoing and incoming settings will be mail.domain.com.

Setting up new account

Open 'Settings'.

Within 'Settings' select 'Accounts'.

Within 'Accounts' select 'Add account'.

Select 'Email' to add new email account.

Enter your 'Email address' and 'Password'. Click onto 'Manual setup' to continue.

The next screen will ask what type of account you would like to setup. Select 'IMAP account' to continue.

Enter your 'Incoming server settings' and click 'Next' to continue.

Note: Security type SSL is recommended if enabled for your account.

Enter your 'Outgoing server settings' and click 'Next' to continue.

Note: Security type SSL is recommended if enabled for your account.

Set your 'Account options' as you desire and click onto 'Next' to continue.

The account is now setup and ready for use. Here you can add display name for outgoing messages and give the account a name on your device. Click onto 'Done' to continue.

After completing these steps you should be able to send and receive email via this account. If you can't send or receive email, contact your ISP for assistance (even if you don't use your ISP's email service). Have your email settings on hand to inform the ISP support of the needs of your email service provider.
